Home for the Holidays

Today is a very exciting day! By now, I have finished my last exam of my first semester at University and will be heading home for the holidays. The idea of going home makes me incredibly excited as it is what has helped me through all of the hours studying. There are a few things that I am reminded of that make me feel blessed and thrilled to be going home for Christmas.

For one, I am beyond excited to see my parents! This past little while has been difficult as my mum just had surgery and I, being in the midst of finals could not go and see her. To make matters worse she is unable to talk due to her surgery, so texting has been our only form of communicating. We have an undeniably close bond so this has definitely been hard on both of us. I can’t wait to see her! My dad is such a goofball, I shockingly find myself missing all of his classic dad jokes and don’t even get me started on his cooking! Meal hall doesn’t even compare and he makes me very aware of it. Every so often I receive a text from him of what he’s made to eat. Anything from pasta to banana loaf french bread. As much as I am excited to see him, I am also buzzing for his cooking.

Besides my parents, I’m really missing my two English Bulldog puppies at home, London and Watson. More than anything I want to snuggle with them and give them treats! During exam season, there is always so much stress and it is the first time I haven’t had them around me. Luckily I have pictures of the little fur balls to get me through.

Later on in the holidays I will also get to see my Sister, Shelby and spend some quality time with her. I can’t wait for that as we’ve only grown closer the older we have gotten and as sappy as it sounds she’s my best friend.

Speaking of best friends, my other partner in crime, Brooke will be done her University exams shortly after me and as we go to Universities in different cities it will be so spectacular to see her again and catch up. We will also be celebrating her birthday when she gets back but she doesn’t quite know what we’re doing. That’s right, it’s a surprise! I just know she’s going to love it though.

I also look forward to seeing my other friends from work. The aquatic centre staff are like this giant family and when everyone is home for the holidays it seems so special to meet up with them to catch up on everything that has been happening.

So as you can see, I have so much to look forward to. Family, puppies, and friends are what the holidays are all about, not to mention all of the time off to relax and prepare for the new year. What is something you’re excited for this holiday season? Let me know in the comments!

Happy holidays,

Ashley Legacy
