Imagine this: you’ve just come in from a cold winters day and a cup of delicious hot chocolate waits for you, along with the most decadent soft gingerbread cookies. You then kick your feet up and relax as you let these flavours linger in your mouth and watch as the snow falls from the window as you sit in comfort and warmth.
If this sounds like a moment you’d like to enjoy this holiday season, you are going to need an incredible gingerbread cookie recipe and it just so happens that I have one!
The ingredients you’ll need are:
3/4 cup of molasses
1/3 cup of packed brown sugar
1/3 cup of water
1/8 cup of butter, softened
3 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice
1 teaspoon of ginger
1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Directions
Step One – Using a medium to large bowl, mix the brown sugar, water, butter, and molasses until it is smooth. Then combine the allspice, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, baking soda, and flour into the bowl. You should have a mixture that is completely absorbed.
Step Two – Cover the dough and allow for it to chill for at least three hours.
Step Three – Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). You are going to want to roll out your dough to about 1/4 inch of thickness after laying down a bit of flour. This is so the dough does not stick to your counters.
Step Four – Now simply cut your dough into the desired shapes and place them on un-greased cookie sheets, placing them about 1 inch apart.
Step Five – In a preheated oven the cookies should take about eight to ten minutes to bake. Once they are baked, let them cool off before decorating as the icing will only melt off and create a mess.
There you have it! Mouth-watering gingerbread cookies that are perfect for your holiday celebrations or a cozy night in by the fireplace.
Happy eating,
Ashley Legacy
