Halloween Horror Night

My all time favourite way to celebrate the spookiest season is by having a horror movie marathon. This annual tradition was a bit different this year as I hosted in in my University dorm room but nonetheless it was quite the night to remember; the pre-movie pumpkin-carving, to the decorations, and of course the films.

The pumpkin-carving was a last minute decision but my friend Emma and I had a blast doing it. With garbage bags cluttering my floor, we scooped and carved. Once the carving was finished, I was readily prepared with electric, watch battery operated tea-lights to create a real looking jack-o-lantern in a safe, dorm friendly way. By the end of it all we were left with the most amazing looking jack-o-lanterns (not really but we tried!)

Once that was finished, I took pictures of my decorations. I was so proud to have decorated for the season and how it turned out despite my small budget.

The films we included were all from Netflix and were more of a thriller/suspense genre than the typical horror movie. We first watched ‘Scream’ and followed with ‘Halloween’. The good part about watching these two films, is that they’re in what I’d consider to be the same category due to the similarities of the movies contents. I had seen the ‘Scream’ film before but it was my first time watching ‘Halloween’. Having been my first time watching the film, I have to say it was creepier than what I anticipated. However, I am happy to have finally watched it.

Having a scary movie night is a really great way to celebrate the Halloween season and is definitely more enjoyable with great friends. If you’re interested in having a similar movie night for the season, I will add a list of great films to check out down below.
