Three Must-Have Haircare Products

As a lifeguard and swim instructor I’m constantly in a pool loaded with chlorine and other chemicals. This, as you can imagine, has done quite a lot of damage to my hair. You can bet that it’s because of this, I take my haircare products seriously. It’s because of my complete devotion to restoring my hair, that I have tried a multitude of products and have found a few really great ones that I’m going to share with you today.

Dry Shampoo

The idea of washing your hair everyday is highly frowned upon in the world of haircare. This is because it’ll strip your hair of all the natural oils it needs to maintain it’s overall health. If you do wash it consistently then you might actually notice your hair will appear greasier quicker as it’s trying to compensate for your rapid motion of removing it.

Instead of washing your hair so often (which I was also guilty of doing for the longest time), try using dry shampoo. The one that I’m loving and ultimately swear by is Dove’s Refresh + Care Volume Dry Shampoo.

When my hair gets oily, it seems to also weigh it down and thus having far less volume than I like. That’s why the volume specific formula is my favourite. It takes 3 day old hair from drab to fab. Not only is it great for in-between washes but it’s also extremely handy to have for after workouts.

The spray is very quick, easy, and efficient, making it a must-have hair product.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Like I mentioned earlier, my hair is quite dry but it’s also gotten quite thin. I was a vegetarian for two years but didn’t eat properly within that time. I had cut out an entire food group that was responsible for my protein in-take but didn’t always have the best substitutions and often failed to get enough nutrients. Due to this, I lost a bit of my hair density.

However, over the past few months, I’ve been using Maui Moisture, Thicken & Restore + Bamboo Fiber shampoo and conditioner set and have noticed extreme changes to the way my hair looks and feels. It’s changed so much that my hair has started coming back. Even my hairdresser took notice!

Of course the product works great but another really great perk is how it smells. The scent is so fresh but not overpowering. In-fact, when I’d wash my hair after swimming lessons, my co-workers took a keen liking to the scent and even went out and bought it for themselves.

I am quite in-love with this brand and formula, so therefore, I just had to share it with you!

Deep Conditioning and Restoring Mask

This next product is perfect for the times when you really need a deep moisture surge. The Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor Treatment from K-Pak by Joico is formulated to restore your hairs protein and is used by many, many hairstylists. As it’s of a more high end quality, it’s slightly more expensive but worth it if your hair is damaged.

Now, the Reconstructor Treatment can tend to dry out your hair which is why it’s also important to have either a really incredible conditioner, or you can buy the Moisture Intense Hydrator for Dry and Damaged Hair also from K Pak by Joico. I’ve been using the pair and and found it’s made all of the difference!

My hair after the treatment feels softer, smoother, and not nearly as dry or frizzy as before. Again it’s a bit more expensive but definitely worth spoiling yourself with.
