Three Must-Have Skincare Products

Over the years I’ve noticed myself get more involved with skincare products. From trying  a large variety of cleansers to having the holy grail of moisturizers, I’m continuously exploring to find what works best for me.

As everyone has different skincare needs, I suggest you determine what your skins combination is. Do you typically have oily skin? Dry skin? A combination of the two? Is your skin sensitive and are you prone to breakouts? These are some great starter questions to understand your skin and it’s needs.

I, myself, have rather dry skin that is quite sensitive to certain products and only really breakout on my chin. It’s important for you to know my skin type as the products that I find really work well for me, might not work as well if you have oily skin (as an example).

With this said, here are the three products that I am currently really enjoying and have now grouped them into my ‘must-haves’ section of my vanity.

Cleanser

Over my many attempts of finding a cleanser, I have noticed a common trend: I seem to feel a burning sensation after applying the product. Usually I wave it off and assume it’s because it’s clearing out my pores but after trying Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub, I have raised my standards for cleansers.

This range has no harsh chemicals, no sulfates, no parabens, and no dyes. So all in all, it’s safe to say it’s quite a natural product. In-fact, it’s ingredients are 94% natural, the rest being essential to keep the scrubs freshness and consistency.

Now onto what I feel it does for my skin…

When using the cleanser, I don’t have any burning feeling. However, it still feels like it’s removing a lot of dirt and grime. I feel way more refreshed without a lasting and somewhat painful tingling like other cleansers/scrubs have done in the past. Overall this product has been incredible and much needed!

Make-up Remover

I could boast to you about how important it is to take make up off at the end of the day, but, 8 out of 10 times I fall asleep with a full face of make-up on. So I am definitely not a spokesperson by any means for make-up remover.

What I will say though, is I hate the feeling of waking up with yesterday’s mascara clumped to my eyelashes. It’s terrible and not the greatest way to start off any day! With this in mind, I knew it was time to change my habits and bought Neutrogena’s Oil Free Eye Make-Up Remover.

It comes in a purple, medium sized bottle and works best with cotton pads. The product itself is formulated with aloe and cucumber extracts so it’ll soothe your skin as it helps to remove any stingy make-up.

The bottle guarantees it can remove the most adamant waterproof mascara and after using it a few times, I can promise it does just that as that’s my choice of mascara. So, if you’re someone who, like me, enjoys waterproof eye make-up, then you might want to give this remover a try!

Moisturizer

Apply moisturizer is so vital to every skincare routine but did you know that having a different daytime and nighttime moisturizer is important? When I first heard this, I didn’t think it was true and that it was just some silly thing companies made up to earn more money. This is not quite the case.

Daytime moisturizers are essential to keep your skin fresh and glowing. Many actually include SPF to also protect your skin from the sun which can’t be found in nighttime moisturizer (for obvious reasons). The moisturizers for the daytime are often a lot lighter than those for nighttime use. This is because over night, is the best time to replenish your skin and prepare it for the next day, so companies formulate their night moisturizers to be thicker as it’ll have more time to sink in.

With these new discoveries, I decided to try out a night cream. I ended up with Nivea’s Moisturizing Night Cream. It’s simple formula smells divine and applies very easy to the face. Whenever I’m putting a bit on, I notice it doesn’t feel greasy like many other moisturizers. It also seems to just soak right into my skin, probably due to the never-ending thirst of my skin but either way, I’m not left with much residue.

In the mornings I’ve noticed a huge change in the way my skin feels and for that I’ll be using this product for awhile if not, forever!

It seems to me that when I commit to my skincare routine, I feel more refreshed, and ready to start my day with less of a hassle. It’s thanks to these three products as they are truly what have been helping me achieve the skin I want.
