My Carry-On Essentials

Traveling can be a pain sometimes, especially if you’re stuck on an airplane for a long amount of time. By the end of the flight, you probably feel groggy, gross, and ready for some fresh air. I know that’s how I feel. If you’re like me, or you don’t happen to travel much and just want some fresh ideas on what to bring with you, then this is the blog post for you.

First, I’m going to start off with some of the basics that might seem really obvious but they are crucial. Your passport, boarding pass, cell phone, & wallet are all extremely vital for a successful trip. If you forget any one of these items, you just might not be able to travel or be stranded once you arrive. It’s also super important that you pack these items in a front pouch of your bag or somewheres where you can access it at a moments notice.

Bringing a pack of gum is a great idea. If you chew a piece of gum while your plane takes off and/or descends, the action of chewing actually helps your ears so they don’t pop from altitude changes. Believe me when I say, you don’t want your ears to pop. It hurts and not to mention it also makes it challenging to hear after. All in all, not the greatest feeling in the world, so do yourself a favour and bring some gum to prevent it.

Now to more personal things I like to bring to entertain me on flights. I like packing a notebook, headphones, my laptop, and a good book. You can pre download a tv show or movie from iTunes and watch it during a flight, either on your phone or laptop, listen to an audio book (personally I’ve been loving my audible app), or using a more traditional route by listening to some music. Whichever you choose, it really helps pass the time and keeps you entertained although, make sure you have headphones otherwise you can’t do this on board. If you’re not really into technology, a book is a great way to go. On my last flight I brought ‘Gone Girl’ and actually ended up finishing it! Reading also makes oneself quite tired, so this might help you sleep on your flight as well.

This brings me to my next topic. Travel pillows work wonders whether you use it for it’s traditional way (around your neck) or place it by your lower back to help with the seats comfortability. I know this is one of my most important things to pack, it’s the best especially if you have a long flight ahead of you.

My final note in this blog post, is to pack any valuables in your carry-on. This could include your laptop (as mentioned before), chargers, polaroid (or any camera of the matter), etc… This is incase of your luggage being lost as it could happen but rest assured rarely does.

These are just a few of my tips for what to bring with you on board, of course it’s different for everyone but after my experiences and my mothers, we have found that this is what really works.

Thank you for reading and bon voyage!
